Technology has come a long way since 1986. The monitor screen on the Macintosh Plus shown in the video is roughly the same size as an ipad … but only presents in black and white. And Internet …. dream on. Steam-powered “beige coloured” 1986 ICT compared to a svelte 2017 smartphone.
State-of-the-art technology, and analytics and Big data especially, can do many things, and, as we are seeing more often, this includes influencing voting behaviour in elections.
It doesn’t take many votes to swing a result. The trick is to know how much it will take, and then to muster your forces. ICT analytics can help drive this. Money helps too, especially “dark money“. Put these forces together and anything is possible.
Alex Salmond and Angus Robertson probably knew what was coming.
When you chose to mix in with all of the above a “friendly” governing partnership with misogynist knuckledraggers then, Mr Orwell, ICT suddenly takes humanity full circle.
As you will see, I have added in links to background reading, which I hope you’ll find illuminating. These are the times in which we live.
